Southern Tier Hopsun

Southern-Tier-HopsunFrom the Brewer – “Make Hop Sun part of your summer survival kit, and no amount of heat or humidity will get you down. This summer thirst-quencher is not your average wheat ale. Light and slightly dry, it is the addition of fresh hop flowers after fermentation that adds a necessary kick on a hot summer day. Hop Sun is mild enough to be a refreshing summer offering, but has just enough of a hop profile to keep your taste buds tingling for another sip. Wheat, barley, and hops coalesce in this superb session ale, a telltale symbol of fun in the sun. Summer never tasted so good.”

This brew is particularly tasty with fresh mozzarella, berries, gazpacho, light picnic fare, BBQ.

FERMENTATION: Ale yeast, one variety of hops, three types of malts.
COLOR: Straw, light honey.
EFFERVESCENCE: Crisp, moderately carbonated.
NOSE: Bready wheat, light hop aroma, lemon rind, pine.
FLAVOR: Balance of malts and hops, pleasantly bitter finish, light sweetness from wheat.

Captain Lawrence Sun Block Wheat Style IPA

Captain-Lawrence-Sun-Block-Wheat-Style-IPAAs the sun starts to peek out from around the dark winter clouds it is a clear reminder that brighter days lie ahead. Deviating from the original recipe, this new and improved Sun block comes with a little more oomph in flavor but still has that great summer time body.

From the Brewer – “Brewed with pale and wheat malts this is a dry, refreshing American Wheat Ale. Unfiltered and dry hopped with Cascade hops for a bright, hoppy finish, this beer will help you fight off the sun all season long!.”

Think seafood, raw bar and it is really great with chicken dishes.

Kona Brewing Wailua Wheat Ale

From the Brewer – “Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place – Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat Ale. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrus flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.”

Wailua Wheat Ale is an excellent beer to enjoy after a day on the water or at the beach (or even after mowing the lawn or playing softball in your “pau hana” summer league!). It typically pairs well with lighter fare like grilled fish and shrimp, roasted chicken, salads and Asian foods. Perhaps even a dish of vanilla ice cream.

Horny Goat Brew Co. Watermelon Wheat

This dry ale uses real watermelon fermented throughout the brew to put a delicious twist on a classic spring wheat.

From the Brewer – “You asked and we listened. We’re showing our melons! The backbone of this brew is heavy on the wheat with just a touch of Vienna malt for complexity. We add real watermelon to our tanks during fermentation, leaving a fruity essence on the back-end. German hops balance the fruit perfectly in this wheat ale for a slightly dry, extremely refreshing finish.
