Brooklyn 1/2 Ale

Brooklyn-half-AleFrom the Brewer – “Brooklyn Brewery 1/2 Ale hearks back to traditional farmhouse ales, which used to quench the thirst of farmhands and other laborers on hot sunny days. These saisons were complex yet clean, low in alcohol and high in refreshment.

Brooklyn Half Ale is an unfiltered, clean, and balanced saison, with a hazy, pale yellow pour. It packs a symphony of citrusy hops over a gentle malt base that clocks in at a pleasantly restrained 3.4% ABV.”

Food Pairings: Try it alongside fish, salads, fresh cheese and light pastries, or just keep it on hand for the end of a long day. After all, it only tastes like a big beer.

Hops: Perle, Simcoe, Amarillo, Sorachi Ace
Malts: Weyermann Pilsner, Weyemann Dark Munich

Anchor Brewing Siason Spring Ale

Anchor-Brewing-Siason-Spring-AleA sharply refreshing Belgian-style ale with a California twist

From the Brewer – “Saisons originated with the rustic farmhouse ales of Wallonia, a mostly French-speaking region of Belgium. Bière de saison was brewed during the saison froide (cold season) for consumption during the warmer months. Today saisons are made and enjoyed year-round. As brewers, we were drawn to this beer style’s enigmatic history, the freedom it offers, and the creativity it demands.

Anchor Saison™ Spring Ale is a traditional Belgian-style saison with a California twist. The distinctiveness of roasted Belgian wheat malt is enhanced by the peppery, clove-like flavors of a locally cultured saison-style yeast. And, for this release, we chose three California ingredients—lemongrass, lemon peel, and ginger—whose synergy adds a tangy crispness and herbal spiciness to this sharply refreshing, uniquely Californian saison.

The completion of the transcontinental railroad in 1869 and the Southern Pacific’s “Sunset Route” in 1883, coupled with the advent of refrigerated railcars, made it possible for California brewers and farmers to ship their products out of state. Local artists and lithographers were engaged to create imaginative labels for bottles of beer and crates of fruit. Many of the latter featured colorful vignettes of California scenery framed by mouthwatering images of fresh citrus.

Inspired by those early fruit-crate labels and the ingredients in this release of Anchor Saison™ Spring Ale, our label features an original hand-colored 1873 lithograph of the Golden Gate as seen from Telegraph Hill. Our saison’s California ingredients—hand-drawn by our label artist Jim Stitt—adorn it, creating a uniquely Anchor label for a uniquely Anchor brew.”

Allagash Saison

Allagash-SaisonFrom the Brewer – “Allagash Saison is our interpretation of a classic Belgian farmhouse style. It is a golden hued beer, brewed with a 2-Row blend, malted rye, oats and dark Belgian candi sugar. Saison is hopped with Tettnang, Bravo and Cascade hops. Fermented with a traditional saison yeast strain, Saison exhibits notes of spice and tropical fruit in the aroma. Citrus and a peppery spice dominate the flavor and make way for a pleasant malt character. Saison is full bodied with a remarkably dry finish.”

Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale

Tank-7-Farmhouse-AleFrom the Brewer – “Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickety. Here at Boulevard we have fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were experimenting with variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a big surge of fruity aromatics and grapefruit-hoppy notes, the flavor of this complex, straw-colored ale tapers off to a peppery, dry finish.

Great with Herb-roasted chicken, Pork, Taleggio cheese.

Heavy Seas Cross Bones Session IPA

Heavy-Seas-Cross-Bones-Session-IPAFrom the Brewer – “CrossBones is our first new year-round beer since 2003! We worked long and hard to create the perfect session IPA that would satisfy the hoppiest of hop heads, all while not putting them under the table. This session IPA is bursting with floral and citrus notes and has a strong malt backbone to support all of that hoppy goodness. Upon tasting CrossBones, with it’s big body, smooth finish and lingering citrus flavor, it’s hard to imagine that it’s only 4.5%. How do we get all of the aroma and flavor from a beer like Loose Cannon into CrossBones? Avast! You’ll never find me buried treasure!”
