Lakefront Brewing Imperial Pumpkin Spiced Ale

Lakefront-Brewing-Imperial-Pumpkin-Spiced-AleFrom the Brewer – “Our Brandy Barrel-Aged Imperial Pumpkin Ale pays homage to Lakefront’s formative years and to our Wisconsin roots. It pours a copper-orange with a fine, off-white head. The aroma is caramel-forward, followed by cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, oak, and subtle brandy notes. The full, moderately bright mouthfeel starts  with cinnamon, nutmeg, and caramel malt, then yields Madagascar vanilla bean, oak, and brandy flavors. A lingering oak and malty sweetness are left on the palate; a reminder of how we’ve honed our craft over the years.”

Like our Pumpkin Lager, this goes great with fall meals, but the intense flavors demand richer foods. Roasted or glazed foul will pair excellently: we suggest honey glazed turkey or roasted duck. Try sweet potato and butternut squash hash as a side, or a spiced butternut squash purée. Also a great a dessert beer: serve it with French vanilla ice cream topped with maple glazed walnuts or a simple bread pudding with dried cranberry and pecans.

Fegley’s BrewWorks Imperial Pumpkin Ale

Fegley's-BrewWorks-Imperial-Pumpkin-AleImperial Pumpkin Ale – A fall seasonal that ups the abv to 9% from a standard Pumpkin Ale. Imperial Pumpkin Ales are still typically mild, with a malty backbone that is balanced by the additional alcohol. The spice takes a lead, but is not overwhelming to the natural pumpkin that’s used in the brew.

From the Brewer – “Amber hued Imperial Pumpkin Ale brewed with real pumpkin and pale, Munich, and caramel malts. Ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and allspice are flawlessly combined with the subtle taste of pumpkin for the most deviously enticing Autumn brew.”

Great with sharp cheddar & pungent cheeses, oysters, grilled meats. Perfect with a burger with bleu cheese & bacon.

Dogfish Head Punkin Ale

Dogfish-Head-Punkin-AlePunkin Ale is named after the seriously off-centered southern Delaware extravaganza Punkin Chunkin. In fact, Punkin Ale made its debut as it claimed first prize in the 1994 Punkin Chunkin Recipe Contest. Yes, that was a full 6 months before we even opened our doors for business! Punkin Chunkin has grown in size and scale, with pumpkins now being hurled more than 4,000 feet through the air! Since its debut, we’ve brewed Punkin Ale each and every fall. It is released right around Sept. 1 each year. When you find it, grab some extra because it’s usually gone by Thanksgiving.

From the Brewer – “A full-bodied brown ale with smooth hints of pumpkin and brown sugar. We brew our Punkin Ale with pumpkin meat, brown sugar and spices. As the season cools, this is the perfect beer to warm up with.

Great with Turkey, roasted duck, lamb, stuffing, dessert dumplings, sharp cheddar.

Captain Lawrence Pumpkin Ale

Captain-Lawrence-Pumpkin-AleFrom the Brewer – “This is the perfect beer to drink as the weather starts to turn a bit cooler. Brewed with pureed pumpkins added directly to the mash, and traditional pumpkin pie spices add to the end of the boil, this beer packs a ton of flavor into a malty & smooth amber-colored ale.”

Loaded with the aromas of fall, and Pumpkin Pie, of course. Pumpkin, Cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice dominate the flavor profile, with the hops playing in the background.

His revelers listen for his echo across the ripened dancing days and prepare their seasonal celebration of harvest and ale.

From the Brewer – “Wilhelm scream is ripe with fall flavors of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and caramel malts. Medium-bodied and the color of orange setting suns, it finishes similar to the way we finish summer: with just a hint of bitterness.”

Harpoon’s UFO Pumpkin

Harpoon-UFO-PumpkinIt’s a simple story; we brew this beer because we like pumpkin (pumpkin pie, really) and thought an unfiltered pumpkin ale would be great, especially during the New England fall.  Turns out it is.

From the Brewer – “Imagine a pumpkin vine wound its way in a field of barley, and a brewer harvested it all to make a beer. Add Northwestern hops and a blend of spices, and you’ve got UFO Pumpkin. The malt combination provides a smooth body and slightly sweet flavor, which balances perfectly with the earthy notes derived from the pure pumpkin. And like all of our UFO beers, UFO Pumpkin is UnFiltered. A solid malt backbone highlighting German Vienna and Munich malts with a nice dose of pumpkin and spice, reminiscent of pumpkin pie.”

Great with Shellfish, seafood, soft cheeses, and green salads.

Hop Bitterness (IBU’s): 20
Alcohol by volume: 5.9%
