Lakefront New Grist (Gluten-Free)

lakefront-new-gristFrom the Brewer – “New Grist is a one-of-a-kind beer brewed without wheat or barley: the first of its kind that can be enjoyed by those with Celiac Disease. This is the first gluten-free beer to be granted label approval by the US Government. Each batch we brew is tested for its gluten contents before it is bottled and shipped. New Grist is brewed from sorghum, rice, hops, water and yeast. These ingredients are carefully combined to form a crisp, refreshing “session ale” brewed for those on a gluten-free diet, or anyone with an appreciation for a great tasting, handmade beer.

It pours a brilliant gold color, with a bubbly head and light, fruity aroma. The flavor is crisp and refreshing, fruity and smooth at the same time. Hints of green apple slice through the maltiness of the sorghum, making this an extremely quaffable beer.”

A great pairing with grilled veggies and fish. Try serving this one with a gluten-free dish like brown rice and grilled chicken, or ground turkey and quinoa stuffed peppers.

Sierra Nevada Nooner® Pilsner

Sierra-Nevada-Nooner-Pilsner

A crisp, hoppy take on the original session beer.

Origin of Pilsner – In the Western Bohemian city of Pilsen (Plzeň) in the Czech Republic, the beer-loving citizens were fed up with the lack of quality in their local brew, so they looked for help in neighboring Germany—specifically Bavaria—where the brewers had already earned a reputation as master beer makers. Brewmaster Josef Groll was hired to take on the task of creating a new Bohemian beer brewed with Bavarian quality. Groll chose to brew a beer using local Czech ingredients—sweet and nutty Moravian malt and lightly bitter but aromatic Saaz hops—combined with lager yeast imported from Bavaria. The Moravian malt was made in a new type of kiln which used indirect heat to produce very pale malt, and when combined with Pilsen’s naturally soft water resulted in the world’s first pale lager. In October 1842, this combination of circumstances—history, location, and technology—created a style which would grow to dominate the beer world for more than a century.

From the Brewer – “Gather your friends, pack the gear, and head out to wherever the day may take you. A midday go-to, Nooner is our take on the classic German-style pilsner—one of the original session beers. Nooner is easy drinking yet packed with the big flavor of spicy and floral whole-cone hops. Its brilliant golden color begs you to take a sip and sink your taste buds into an extremely welcoming beer, full of flavor and balanced by a crisp, dry finish.”

Great with cured ham and Gruyere Croque Madame, Wood grilled Mahi, Portobello Mushroom and Spring Pea Pasta.

Full Sail Pilsner

Full-Sail-Pilsner

OREGON’S FAVORITE PILSNER

From the Brewer – “While our Cascade Pils is inspired by classic European pilsners, this beer is really a celebration of the fresh, local Cascade hops grown by family farmers right here in our beloved Pacific Northwest.  It has intense aromas of citrus and pine, supported by a medium body and dry malty palate. As you savor that unmistakable aroma and long, clean hop finish, tip your hat (and your glass) to the generations of hop farmers who help us live the locavore dream every day.

We originally brewed Cascade Pilsner as a special release to celebrate our 26th Anniversary and our Northwest hop growers. It quickly became our fastest growing Full Sail draft beer and our bestselling 22oz. bottle. With that warm consumer response we decided it deserved its own year round six-pack.”

Dogfish Head Piercing Pils

Dogfish-Head-Piercing-PilsFrom the Brewer – “A Perry-Pils hybrid, Piercing Pils is a Czech Style Pilsner brewed with a White Pear Tea and Pear juice.  Both the juice and the tea were added in the kettle during the whirlpool (after the boil) for maximum flavor and aroma contribution.  The Pear fruit complexity pierces right through the spicy Czech Saaz hops beautifully, adding a gentle acidity to this pale lager that makes for a crisp refreshing sipper.  Amarillo hops add nuanced citrus notes that meld perfectly with the fruit.

Great with pasta primavera, barbecue ribs, fish tacos, soft pretzel.
