Two Roads Honeyspot Road IPA

two-roads-honeyspot-road-ipaFrom the Brewer – “The Two Roads version of this traditional beer style takes a road less traveled. It’s unfiltered and uses wheat as the dominant malt backbone. The result is a slightly cloudy, pale IPA with a softer mouthfeel that accentuates the citrusy Pacific Northwest hop character.

Great with Coconut Basmati Rice, Jamaican Jerk Chicken or Tropical Bread Pudding.

Flying Fish Hopfish IPA

Flying-Fish-Hopfish-IPAFrom the Brewer – “This English-style I.P.A. features a deep golden color, plenty of hop bitterness balanced by malt sweetness. Dry hopping results in a floral and herbal hop finish. HopFish is then lightly filtered to maintain the appropriate body and flavor. The beer features a combination of European malts to balance the hops, making this quite drinkable and quite versatile in pairing with food.”

Great as a pre-dinner drink (hops are a great appetite stimulant), heartier fare, spicy foods, pizza, pub grub.

Smuttynose Finestkind IPA

Smuttynose-Finestkind-IPAPortsmouth is a colonial era seaport town, so it goes to follow that sooner or later we’d brew an India Pale Ale as a tribute to those big, hoppy 19th century ales that made the long sea voyage from England’s temperate shores, ’round the Cape of Good Hope, to the sultry climes of the faraway East Indies.

But there’s another reason we brewed this beer, one that’s closer to our home and hearts. Hopheads.

From the Brewer – In 1994 we brewed our first batch of Shoals Pale Ale, our American interpretation of the traditional British ESB (Extra Special Bitter) style. At the time, it was widely considered to be darned hoppy. However, a funny thing happened over the last decade – our Shoals Pale Ale didn’t change; beer lovers did, and we started to hear more and more: “Why don’t you guys make a really hoppy beer?”

You could say, then, that Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 75 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

Great with Mexican, Thai, Vietnamese aged cheddar cheeses.

Weyerbacher Last Chance IPA

From the Brewer – “Weyerbacher’s new Last Chance IPA is a west coast-style full-flavored hop assault delightfully lacking in balance.  We’ve added a combination of Centennial, Cascade, Simcoe and Columbus hops are used to produce pungent aromas of grapefruit, pine and citrus.

Now…   for the name. Why “Last Chance?” The name “Last Chance” is a nod to something held very close to the hearts of many of the employees at Weyerbacher Brewing Company:  Animal Rescue.  Weyerbacher donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of every drop of Last Chance IPA to small, regional animal rescue operations.  These shelters offer dogs, cats and other pets their last chance to find a new home.”

Hops: Centennial, Cascade, Simcoe and Columbus
Hop Bitterness (IBU’s): 62
Alcohol by volume: 5.9%
Format: 6 Packs

Lakefront Brewing India Pale Ale

Lakefront-Brewing-India-Pale-AleFrom the Brewer – “Pours a hazy orange with a rocky white head that lasts, and leaves soft lace on your glass as you sip this refreshing beer. American Cascade and Chinook hops dominate the aroma, yielding a citrusy, floral bouquet. The hops give a nice bite to the flavor profile, but this beer is well-balanced with a full body and smooth malty flavor to back up the hops. It finishes smooth and crisp with a lingering hop flavor reminiscent of fresh ruby-red grapefruit.”

Goes well with any spicy Indian or Thai food: green curry, tom yum soup, or pad thai beef dishes and fried seafood will stand up to the hops as well.

Original Gravity: 16° Plato
Hop Bitterness (IBU’s): 44
