Tröegs Troegenator® Double Bock

Troegenator-Double-BockFrom the Brewer – “Troegenator Double Bock is a dark, strong lager.  It pours into a glass with a bronze to brown color, fluffy white head and bready malt aroma. The Troegenator leaves a rich, warming feeling and subtle spicy flavors. The style, Double Bock, dates back a century or so ago. During periods of fasting without solid foods, the Monastic brewers relied on the Double Bock; a stronger, richer beer to fulfill their basic nutritional needs. Known to them as “liquid bread,” a Double Bock has a strong malt aroma and rich chewy body. In the spirited tradition of naming a Double Bock using the suffix “-ator,” we give you Troegenator to provide warmth and nourishment all throughout the year.

Monks had fasting figured out. No food? No problem. Just drink a Double Bock. Thick and chewy with intense notes of caramel, chocolate and dried stone fruit, ‘Nator (as we call him) serves as a tribute to this liquid bread style.”

Since Troegenator is a big beer, it is perfect with big beef—like grilled steaks and stews. It can also serve as a nice compliment to sweet, non-chocolate based desserts.

Thomas Creek Deep Water Dopplebock Larger

Thomas-Creek-Deep-Water-Dopplebock-LargerFrom the Brewer – “Up The Creek is mashed in at a low temperature to increase the amount of fermentable sugars while reducing residual sweetness. This creates a hoppy behemoth of a beer with its ABV well hidden under heavy layers of malt. UTC is designed to be dangerously drinkable, so use caution or you’ll be Up The Creek!.

Food: This deliciously balanced beer with roasted cocoa tones goes particularly well with roasty foods like duck or roasted pork shanks, also cured meats.

Cheese: Pairs perfectly with a classic Limburger cheese.

Dessert: Rich toffee and chocolaty tones in the beer invoke a sweet palate pairing such as German chocolate cake, Black Forest cake and dried fruit rum tart.
